Web Quest, U-tube

Webquest is really what's it is all about, linking together knowledge about a topics and questions using information found every where on the web, working and communicating together with others that share interests.Webquest subsequently wants us to scaffolding and link together resources, experiences and provide a platform for deeper cognitive processing to occur.' Challenge our learners to think ' (Dodge 2001).
U-tube I have used u-tube to access advertising and find out information on products. I am aware of the many uses of U-tube both personally and commercially speaking and caution and permission must be taken when looking at posting anything on such an open part of the world wide web. For teaching U-tube represents good opportunities to site parallel interests in key learning areas in order to keep classrooms interesting and alive(Marzano & Pickering 1997).

Introducing my Voki

Quizzes

Kids love them, great way to find out whether or not learning has occurred by revisiting units with quizzes, together in groups or individually. By the way I got 6 out of 6 for my moodle quiz. Yeah!!

Google Earth, Maps: How I would use these as a Teacher

There are many of us that will never have the oppurtunity to travel or experience interesting and exotict places around the world. As a pre-service teacher who has past experience in culture and ethnic places around the world, it would be satisfing to share these experiences and allow for curiosity to take over.

As hopefully in the near future I will be a teacher and I could already image using Google Earth and Google Maps in my lesson plans for both of my disiplines.
The most wonderful thing about food is that it has arrived from many countries around the world and when introducing cultural dishes for year 8s the questions of where did these foods and dishes arrive from and why?
Locating and linking the countries and places with pictures of dishes that they are famous for; examples India - Nan Bread and Chicken Marsala,
Italy - Lasagne and Pizzas, Japan- Sushi. All of these places could be marked and linked with the foods they have made in classes.

Business students have the opportunity to use google maps for marketing there goods or business. One of the first things about being in business is to know you is your market and who are your competitors. Google Maps allows customers to find you which is very important!

Wordle, Voki, Pinic, Moviemaker

World of words, Wordle is quiet common and I have seen many examples of these in schools, a great way to profile your class and find out students interests and have these displayed around your home class room.

Voki looks to be a handy for marketing if in business as an advertising tool. Voki enables you to be creative and get any message across in a fun way.

Movie-maker what a challenge!, our group effort was interesting, the most difficult part was to line up together the auditory.

The little spare time I have these days has been spent playing around with pinic and movie-making using photos of family.

itunes, Podcasts and Vodcast

I had a wonerful time playing around with itunes, which I already knew a little about. I have now started playing around with Podcast. Vodcasts enable us all to keep in touch with whats going on visually in the world around us. Educational wise we are able to actually see our lectures and not miss out on vital educational material and as known in Austraila online university study in ever increasing so podcast and vodcasts are of great importance to stay connected with our audience.

I have included my " Favorite itunes Song on MYPodcast" Check it out!

Rare Tiger sighting at CQU

Powerpoints and Slideshare " How would I use? "

The majority of us in the classroom as learners have witnessed the use of powerpoints and since beginning studies and I have created them for following assignments in assessements. I learn well visually and auditory so I can see first hand the benefits. The clear presentation of words and font, you are able to be creative and imagination, place animation and voices and even post u-tube videos. Your able to captive learners and allow them to be interested and involved. For teachers powerpoint is essential and can be used in all forms of disiplines from; explaining rules and definitions about " Safety " in labs and kitchens to flow charts and graphs, many, many uses.

www.slideshare.com is a teachers best friend in the powerpoint world, what more can I say. A great way to keep work safe and available if when required without the aid of USB stick and disks.

E-Learning for Todays "Kids"

We indeed embark on a generation that has been born with ipods and mobile phones and these items deem to be disposable. Research today suggest the high portion of k-2 use a computer so kids today have already experiences in e-learning in an informal environments anywhere. As the theorist George Semens ideas on connectivism and ' knowing how to find the information is becoming more important than knowing the information' ( Resources CQU learning theories ). A high portion of kids today would have already been pushing buttons on keyboards and navigating their way through with less fear and apprehension than generations before us. As human beings have the tendency to " fear what we do not know or understand", we now have a generation that have been learning informally by engaging in experiences online, so e-learning can create a positive learning environment today and should be embraced.

Humanmetrics

Type is INFJ Introverted Intuitive Feeling Judging

Interestingly I did this test twice and my results varied, when I was in class my results were ENFJ and the next day when completed test again on my own I was INFJ.

Reflecting on these results, in a comfortable classroom environment for e-learning my results showed I was extroverted. The next day attempting the test again I found I was introverted, my intuitive and feeling and judging results never changed. Obviously a persons' mood and attitude could change the results, so in the classroom this would be a valuable tool to use to engage students and profile. By reflecting on my results could show that even in the classroom students that are normally introverted may tend to engage more effectively in an interactive e-learning environment.

Week 1

There seems to be many faces to google, I have rarley gone outside the means of hotmail and google searches. I am learning more about google and its language and applications and the mechanisms of "delicious" its tags and bookmarking, and now know about followers and posting.
These are my first thoughts on e-learning so far after week 1 !

Introduction to Managing E-Learning

As part of my course outline for BLM I am to complete a course subject "Managing E-Learning".My first lecture on Tuesday gave me a brief and interesting overview of what to expect over the next coming weeks. I wouldn't consider myself as being very "tech savy" but I am improving daily and at a fast pace especially after starting university, it has been a race to become more competent in areas of navigating through online courses, profiles and research material.By reflecting on what I have just learnt this week about e-learning, is how interesting it is to explore different ways in communicating and collaborating with others in an "on-line environment" so to speak and how this form of learning can enhance and improve our own teachings through ways of pedagogy and increased personal development.
This blog has been created to reflect about the subject of e-learning.
